Leaders from the Kentucky National Guard and Eastern Kentucky University met on the Richmond campus to establish a formal partnership to support Guardsmen and their family members pursuing higher education, Mar. 26, 2025. The MoU represents a shared commitment between the Guard and the university to ensuring those who serve are able to meet their educational goals.

Command Staff of the Kentucky National Guard (KYNG) hosted Kentucky lawmakers at the Boone National Guard Center in Frankfort, March 10, 2025, to provide updates on current KYNG operations and readiness.
Tech. Sgt. Philip Trojanowski, a combat control craftsman assigned to the 123rd Special Tactics Squadron, is the Kentucky Air National Guard’s Non-Commissioned Officer of the Year for 2024. His role is to act as a one-man attachment to other special forces teams. He is trained in a wide range of skills including scuba, parachuting and snowmobiling, as well as being an FAA-certified air traffic controller in order to establish air control and provide combat support on missions all over the globe. Airman 1st Class Annaliese Billings, Tech. Sgt. Philip Trojanowski and Master Sgt. Kevin Woodard were honored as the Kentucky Air National Guard’s 2024 Airmen of the Year during the Airman’s Gala held at Woodhaven Country Club in Louisville, Kentucky, March 15.

Students with the Academy at Shawnee Navy JROTC toured the Kentucky National Guard’s MATES facility at Fort Knox, March 12, 2025. They explored military equipment and learned about career opportunities in the National Guard. Instructors emphasized the benefits of service, while students considered future career paths.

Kentucky NCOs augment active component drill sergeants

Four drill sergeants from Kentucky’s Recruit Sustainment Program (RSP) augmented active component drill sergeants from the U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) at Fort Jackson, South Carolina, July 21-Aug. 4, 2024. Not only was the experience an excellent broadening opportunity, but it has also enhanced the effectiveness of RSP.
Twenty Soldiers graduated the Unit Retention Non-Commissioned Officer Course conducted by the Mobile Training Team from Professional Educational Center’s (PEC) Strength Maintenance Training Battalion at Wendell H. Members of the Leadership Jessamine County class visited the Boone National Guard Center in Frankfort, Feb. 13, 2025, to learn about the Kentucky National Guard and its resources. The group, composed of local business and community leaders, explored the Guard’s role in state government and emergency response efforts, including disaster relief in Western and Eastern Kentucky.
